Even after the recovery of Covid-19 majority of the people are suffering from the complications like body ache, breathlessness and there are also cases of significant organ disfunctions mainly the lungs and brain.
A study conducted in Italy and published in JAMA says patient recovered from Covid-19 reported persistence of at least one symptom, particularly fatigue and dyspnoea- even after two months of being discharged from the hospital. However there have been other reports of individual still expressing symptoms, months after the infections including continuous loss of taste or smell, irregular heartbeat, chest pain and recurring fever.
Also, several other reports say that after recovering from severe Covid-19 some patients may experience lung damage including partial or complete lung scarring (lung fibrosis) that result in severe functional limitations. Gradually the scar tissue can destroy the normal lung and make it difficult for oxygen to get in to the blood and also people may have the inflammation of the heart muscles or myocarditis, in addition to it people requiring intensive care are at increased risk for mental health issues like post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, mood disorder etc
In Ayurveda what we can do for those condition, especially in Lung fibrosis – we could corelate this condition as SROTORODHAM- with some special internal medications like Elakanadi kashayam, Daamoolakatutrsys kashayam, Nayopayam kashayam, Dhanwantaram gulika, Agastyarasayamam etc to improve the lung capacity and immune system and to reduce the lung infections or the treatment that depends on the conditions of the doshas.
Together with diet and yoga is also very important to reduce the symptoms.
Especially the citrus fruits, because of rich in vitamin C – they are grape fruit, Orange, Lemon, Clementine, Amlaki, Kiwi etc Sprouted green gram, Tomatoes, Avocados. Daily recommended dose of vitamin C for an adult is 75mg/day.
Pumpkin Carrots, Green leafy vegetables Papaya Mango Melon Apricots, peaches, lettuce turnip is also good because of rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A will protect the body against the diseases especially the respiratory tract infections
Other vegetables like Broccoli, Red bell pepper, Spinach, Dry fruits like Almonds, Dates, Sunflower seeds, Spices like Garlic, Ginger, Turmeric, Black pepper and sweet like Jaggery is also good for this condition
Drink plenty of warm water, if it made with ginger its very good
